Cross Border Xpress advances a 2025–2030 Master Plan to expand its San Diego international air terminal, including a new ground transportation center and on-site hotel.
Cross Border Xpress (CBX), an international terminal connecting San Diego to the Tijuana International Airport via a 390-foot pedestrian sky bridge, has announced a series of expansion projects as part of its 2025–2030 Master Plan. The development aims to enhance binational travel infrastructure and the overall passenger experience. Key components of the expansion include an arrivals area extension, a new ground transportation center, a dedicated car service center, a quick turn-around area, and the addition of an on-site hotel and new food and beverage offerings.
Since its inception a decade ago, the facility has served more than 30 million passengers and currently facilitates 37 direct flights. The hub reports an annual economic impact of $1.5 billion and supports approximately 700 direct jobs. These infrastructure improvements are designed to build upon the facility's existing network of ground transportation and regional connectivity, further cementing its role as a primary gateway between the United States and Mexico.
