Cleveland Metroparks is planning a new 135-room zoo hotel while advancing construction on the Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center and completing the Hinckley Lake dam project.
The Cleveland Metroparks Board of Park Commissioners recently approved a $17.7 million budget increase to support various capital improvements and ongoing operational expansion. Among the notable projects, construction continues on the Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center, while the Hinckley Lake dam project has reached completion. The system reported a 17% year-over-year increase in zoo attendance, with $2.5 million in recent construction expenses driven by the new primate forest.
Looking ahead, the agency is actively seeking development partners for a proposed 135-room themed hotel at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Officials have identified four potential sites for the project, with a submission deadline for developer proposals set for May 29, 2026. Additionally, the Board approved funding for deck protection services at the Rocky River Nature Center and authorized change orders for coastal shoreline erosion projects as part of its broader commitment to environmental preservation and facility upgrades.
