Clarios is investing up to $390 million to modernize and expand its two automotive battery facilities in St. Joseph, creating 123 new jobs while retaining 936 positions.
Clarios is launching a major expansion project in St. Joseph, Missouri, involving the modernization of its existing automotive battery manufacturing plant and distribution center. The company plans to invest up to $390 million into these facilities to increase production capacity and meet rising demand for low-voltage battery technologies, while simultaneously mitigating logistics costs and tariff exposure.
The project includes the creation of 123 new jobs and the retention of 936 existing roles. To support this investment, Clarios will utilize the Missouri Works Program, through which it is eligible for approximately $5.6 million in tax credits, alongside potential workforce support from Missouri One Start. The expansion was secured against competition from other U.S.-based sites, reinforcing the company's long-term operational commitment to the St. Joseph region.
