The Chicago Bears are weighing a potential stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, against a competing site in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
The Chicago Bears are currently evaluating two potential locations for their new home, with a decision expected between a site in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and one in Hammond, Indiana, by early summer 2026. The Indiana proposal, supported by state legislation signed by Gov. Mike Braun, offers a financial package including $1 billion in infrastructure support funded through tax revenue from a new stadium development district, a 12% admissions tax, and adjustments to local hotel and food-and-beverage taxes. Additionally, infrastructure funding may be bolstered by a $700 million payment from the Indiana Toll Road operator following recent toll increases.
Meanwhile, the Illinois Legislature is debating a tax-incentive bill aimed at securing the team's stay in Arlington Heights, where the franchise already owns land. While Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has proposed a lakefront stadium alternative, Gov. JB Pritzker and the Bears organization have indicated that the Arlington Heights and Hammond sites remain the only two viable options under consideration.
