By Colin Percy · May 27, 2026

Brighton Properties, the development arm of the nonprofit Brighton Center, is constructing June Gardens, a new 12-unit residential community in Newport. Located on the 700 block of Ann Street at the site of a former community garden, the project will feature a mix of six one-bedroom, four two-bedroom, and two three-bedroom units. Ten units will be located on the Ann Street block, with the remaining two units situated nearby. The development is specifically designed for working families earning between $15 and $25 per hour, with rents capped at 30% of income in accordance with HUD standards.

Beyond providing housing, the community will offer residents access to wrap-around services, including job training, mental health support, and financial coaching. Funding for the development is provided by the Kentucky Housing Corporation. Construction is currently underway, with the project expected to be completed within the next 12 to 14 months.
