Black & Veatch plans a $1.34 billion, 10-year redevelopment of its Overland Park headquarters into a mixed-use district featuring a new $500 million, nine-story office building.
Black & Veatch has announced a $1.34 billion project to redevelop its headquarters property in Overland Park, Kansas, transforming the 33-acre site into a walkable mixed-use district dubbed Overland Park Plaza II. The project involves the demolition of the firm's existing 600,000-sq-ft headquarters, constructed in 1976, to make way for a new $500 million, nine-story office building capable of housing 3,500 employees. The master-planned expansion will also add 700 multifamily units, 88 townhomes, a hotel, a daycare center, and public park space, with total construction projected to span 10 years.
JE Dunn has been tapped as the general contractor for the headquarters portion, with BNIM serving as the project architect and Clayco acting as the owner’s consultant. The firm has already secured rezoning approval from the local plan commission and is currently seeking over $200 million in tax increment financing to support the development.
