Akron Children’s Hospital secures the 50-acre Notre Dame College campus in South Euclid for $8 million following the institution's closure.
Following the closure of Notre Dame College in 2024 due to financial and enrollment challenges, the former 50-acre campus is transitioning to new ownership. Akron Children’s Hospital has emerged as the successful bidder for the site with an $8 million offer, which currently awaits federal approval to finalize the acquisition.
The campus assets were subject to a court-ordered liquidation process to address significant outstanding debts, including a $20 million claim held by Bank of America. While auctioneers sold nearly 900 lots of equipment and campus items—generating estimated proceeds of up to $300,000—specific sensitive items such as computer servers and signage were excluded from the sale. The hospital’s purchase of the land and remaining infrastructure marks the conclusion of operations for the private nonprofit college, which previously served approximately 1,400 students.
